ACJ @ Treasure, London Jewellery Week - Joanne Haywood @ Treasure
29th March - 31st May 2010 - New Spring Show
Object Fetish Gallery, online, presents "New Spring Show, by Harriete Estel Berman, Joanne Haywood, and Polly Wales". Three accomplished and dynamic artists create new work for our Spring online exhibition. Come see what is growing in our garden...

Joanne Haywood’s new work, "Strange Garden" is imbued by the theme of the garden. The work alludes to the "idea of a parallel place, a secret garden that exists but at the same time cannot." Her playful touch with materials of bight red thread and black metal you can’t distinguish if the metal is sprouting from the thread or vise versa. The work is often an over grown entanglement of fiber and metal.

The exhibition will be running from 29th March until 31st May at the Object Fetish Gallery, and admission is free.

For more information about the exhibition you can call Object Fetish Gallery at (415) 440-6426, visit their website here, or email them here.

13th February - 25th April 2010 - Thread Bare - Rochester Art Gallery & Craft Case
Thread Bare has been conceived by the gallery's curators at Medway Council as a means of reflecting on concerns relating to "human condition and identity, social and domestic circumstances and cultural exploration through textiles", and the works are promised as "playful and unsettling in their approach". These are large claims and universal themes, and the required mix of play and unsettlement adds further pressure to deliver a potent and affecting exhibition. Joanne's work can be seen at the exhibition from February through to April this year. You can also find more information about the exhibition on the Rochester Gallery website.

Nine artists working in different media were invited to describe one of their works and submit both the work and the description for inclusion in an exhibition. Nine poets were then invited to produce a poem as a response to one of these works and nine jewellers to produce a work inspired by an artist’s text. Texts, poems and jewellery were exhibited without further explanation. In an extension of this original project, for the Galvanise Festival, the original participants were asked to invite further artists, poets and jewellers to participate. This current exhibition displays the work of all 108 participants in the project. You can find out more on their website.

For every behatted bottle sold, Sainsbury’s and innocent give 50p per bottle sold to Age Concern to help keep older people warm in winter. Last year they raised over £200,000 for Age Concern and this year they are looking to raise lots more.
